Breast cancer: Unfortunately, it also affects our four-legged friends

Recently, we treated a cat in our practice that had to be successfully operated on for a left mammary adenocarcinoma – a type of cancer that often occurs in unsterilized or older cats.

When the cat came to us, her owners were concerned about a “lump” they noticed on one side. After a thorough examination and some tests, a diagnosis of mammary adenocarcinoma was made. Despite the concern, we were able to act quickly and perform surgery to remove the tumor and avoid further complications.

The procedure went very well and after a recovery period the cat began to feel better. Today – after some time – she is doing well again and has resumed her normal life. This case reminds us how important it is to observe your pet and recognize changes in good time. Today, tumors can be successfully treated chemically or surgically if they are detected in time.
